What does "timber-framed" mean?

The house is constructed of wooden frames of closely spaced timbers of small cross-section. Load-bearing walls made of posts and crossbeams support the roof and floor.

From the inside to the outside, peripheral walls comprise a wall cladding, a vapour barrier, a thickness of rigid mineral wool covering the inside of the timber frame, a wind bracing layer made from nailed panels, a waterproofing layer and cleats which leave an air gap and are used for attaching the outer weatherboarding.

The flexibility of construction allows any shape to be produced.
